4KUNIVERSE Adds HDR Support for 4K Linear, OTT
General entertainment UHD channel now broadcasts 4K with HDR (High Dynamic Range)
Los Angeles, January 18, 2018 – 4KUNIVERSE, the new 24/7 4K Ultra HD General Entertainment TV Channel launched by Matthew Mancinelli, announced today that it has scheduled 4K titles with HDR for Q1 2018.
HDR10+ is the format 4KUNIVERSE will use.
The first title to air is Cosmos Laundromat, a 4K HDR 3D animation film by Director Mathieu Auvray featuring a confused sheep who meets his fate in a quirky salesman on a deserted island. Premiere Date is Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 9pm ET.
4KUNIVERSE is currently broadcasting 24 hours a day and LIVE on U.S. cable TV in North Carolina, Wisconsin and Alaska.
“4KUNIVERSE is on the cutting edge of entertainment and technology, ready for any telecom or cable TV operator with 4K set top boxes deployed to their subscribers,” states 4KUNIVERSE CEO Matthew Mancinelli.
According to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), for the first time, 4K TVs will make up half of all total digital displays sold in 2018, with unit sales forecast to hit 22 million units (27 percent increase) generating $15.9 billion in revenue (14 percent increase).
